Volcano Video Friday June 13th

I had the joy of sharing my friday night with the volcanow video crew out at the ocean entry. The firworks erupted as the sun set behind the clouded horizon making for some intense ocean entry action. Due to high volume the steam gave stayed fairly constant. Another great trip with some great people. Check out thier videos at http://www.volcanovideo.com/ Still alot of action off the point seems to be very high flow volume.

Waikupanaha continues to create

Sorry for the wait if anyones been waiting, but im offline right now & dont get the online time i need all the time.

The Ocean entry has been great over the past month we were blessed with sharing this special occurance with friends, family, worldwide guests, photographers & vaious media outlets including two upcoming television productions on the Discovery Channel & National Geographic. As Pele heats up pouring close to 3,000 tons a day of lava the bench of Waikupanaha builds & crumbles away providing a first hand account to one of the Big Islands Natural Wonders.
If you haven't seen this flow yet then what are you waiting for

Lava Boat Lono returns to Kilauea for an Eruption Update

The crew & I fueled LONO up and were out of Wailoa Harbor by 4am in route for Pohoiki to pick up our guests. The ride around Cape Kumukahi was especially rough this morning due to the 15 knot winds. Once aroung the cape things were all downswell to Pohoiki. After loading up we cruised on down the coastline to the center of the earth were lava meets the sea. As we traveled south the seas began to part making for a special viewing for these folks. 4 different ocean entries as of now with one entry that seems to be dieing off. From the boat were observed multiple fingers of lava flowing from each entry. The furthest South flow has developed a medium sized cinder cone & is currently creating a very large upwelling from the underwater pillow lava eruption. So amazing !!! Another great show at the flow. A brief ride back to Pohoiki were we unloaded the passengers & headed back to Hilo town. We returned just after 11:30am so a 6 1/2 hour round trip on "Lono" for today, such a beautiful day. Swell NE 3-4 Wind 15 Knots E

Lava Ocean Adventures March 19th, 2008

With the seas up a bit this morning we didnt get out until first light, 6 Am that is. The seas were a bit bumpy but the treat pele provided was second to none. On the way home we tried our luck & came up with a Mahi Mahi. All that and back just before 10AM.

Lavas Back in a big way

LONO on 2nd trip back since flow stopped in June 2007
LONO is rated for up to 24 passengers on the east side.

The secluded foxes beach just minutes away from where the lavas entering the sea.
Another Eastside sunrise at the flow you can almost feel the heat from the lava. Morning rivers of fire caressing the sea.

Sorry for the wait but boy oh boy is Pele a cookin. As of March 19th, 2008 we have 3 ocean entry's entering the sea and over 20 fingers spreading across the newly created lands. The viewing from the boat has been great, except for a bit of a bump recently in the seas. Enjoy these new photos I look forward to providing more updates as the new flows named Waikupanaha and Ki develop.
